Why Long Caye
Where Land Meets Sea
Long Caye is one of the most remote and pristine Cayes in Belize and offers extraordinary opportunities for appreciating terrestrial and aquatic life. Located about 45 miles from the mainland, Long Caye is isolated from civilization, yet easy to get to and enjoy. As the dominant landmass within the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, its 600+ acres are blessed with the surrounding coral reefs, abundant tropical fish and fowl, white sandy beaches, palm, zeracote, mangrove and buttonwood trees, radiant sunshine and pleasant easterly trade winds. Long Caye exemplifies perfection for scuba diving, snorkeling, photography, sailing, recreational and sport fishing, sea kayaking, bird watching, swimming, relaxing and exploring in the midst of Caribbean magnificence.
Community, Conservation & Culture in Harmony
Unique & Exclusive
Long Caye is not just a resort, it is an ecological community on a private island alone in the Lighthouse Reef Atoll. To live here is to be immersed in the shimmering tropical waters, jungle and breezes of the Lighthouse Reef 24/7. Hidden away, one might never discover this island, which has remained untouched by highways, chain-restaurants, nightclubs and casinos. What exists is something so fresh, so rich and yet so remote and personal, all you can do is fall in love with nature and the elements.
The Great Blue Hole
Long Caye is also the closest developable real estate to UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Great Blue Hole and Half Moon Caye. The Atoll is also home to the highest concentration of world-class dive sites in all of Belize with some found less than a mile off the Long Caye’s coast.

Extraordinary by Nature
The founding of the concept of Long Caye began with preservation. Long Caye provides a distinctive and delicate habitat for an abundant array of tropical wildlife. The shoreline has long provided nesting areas for endangered Loggerhead and Hawksbill turtles, while many tropical migratory birds use the Caye as an essential rest stop during both north and south migrations. Around the world and particularly in the Caribbean interior lagoons, mangroves and littoral forest are some of the fastest disappearing environments. We are safeguarding 100% of these biomes on Long Caye. All of Long Caye is protected in one way or another under the Eco-guidelines and our Master Plan.
Living on Long Caye is existing on a private island where you are an integral part of the eco-system. You are part of how the island and the community stays healthy. The Community on Long Caye (the development itself) is designed to promote and sustain the health of the surrounding tropical reef and jungle environment. Residents and businesses, understand that by honoring the Eco-guidelines we can “have our cake and eat it, too” by respecting the natural assets. Your parcel and home is a part of the overall design of all-encompassing, unsurpassed access to an extraordinary ecological system while ACTIVELY preserving the the Caye and its surrounds. We have designed the community with a long term vision.
All of Long Caye is essentially a preserve. Stewardship of the surrounding environment is a core value for us. We take a long term, holistic approach to building community on Long Caye, through the mindful, yet aggressive, adoption of leading edge environmentally friendly technologies. We seek to demonstrate to the world the achievements possible when people, passion and technology team up with nature to create an extraordinary living and visiting experience. Our Conservation Ethos is enacted in perpetuity by the Eco-Guidelines – and they ensure that Long Caye will be here for future generations. As stewards of the atoll, we will not sacrifice our ecological standards or compromise our principals.
We hope to bridge the gap between the enjoyment of access and conscientious preservation of the natural environment – to prove that environmental assets can be preserved, protected AND enjoyed in a fashion that actually promotes the long term health of such assets for the greater good. Community and Conservation priorities are fulfilled with a deep and abiding respect for the Local Culture that has preceded us for centuries in the Lighthouse Reef atoll. We are friends, supporters and business partners to the fishers that have responsibly used the Lighthouse Reef for their livelihood for generations. We understand and promote sustainable business in the Atoll and on the Caye.
